SEVEN MONTHS OF RILEY

Seven whole months, little man. Woah.

I can't believe you were in my tummy 7 months ago and we did not know you. Riley, you have made this momma so extremely happy + blessed. I can honestly say I was a little nervous when we found out you were a boy, since all we knew was from your big sister, but Riley, you have made being a boy momma the absolute best!
Here is what he has been up to this month:
Food:
Still just nursing. a LOT. Like all the time. I am just fueling those chunky thighs of his, which makes me happy, so keep on nursing, babe. Speaking of breastfeeding, I have lots and lots of tips coming up on a post shortly, but I'll share one of my favorites, and it happens to be pretty tasty too! This tea, from Oat Mama, is delicious and it has really helped keep up my supply during the hot summer here in So Cal. You can brew it with hot water or my preferred method, sun tea! Just put your water in a giant Mason jar, add in tea bags and set it in the sun for 4-6 hours and voila! Add some ice to a cup and you have the most refreshing drink that also helps your milk. We will start solids at some point in the future, once he is more ready. I'll have some tips and what we like to do in the next few months, so keep an eye out or email me if you have questions!
Weight:
He weighs about 18 pounds, give or take. To give you perspective, Reagan weighed 18 pounds at 1 year! Every baby is so different, and it is fun to compare them. Reagan was always so tiny and petite (still is!) and Riley is the baby with all the rolls.
Sleep:
What is sleep??? I'm partially kidding, but between growth spurts and his bottom tooth finally making its way in, Riley just doesn't sleep very well. This month, we actually put our Dockatot in our bed on my side, and it has helped. Even if it is a tiny bit more sleep than before, being able to nurse him in bed versus having to drag myself from our bed to his room, is a lifesaver! *as always, please practice safe bed-sharing as it can be harmful if you aren't!
Milestones:
No crawling yet. Riley has been rolling over for a couple months and now he has started to try to pull his legs up into a crawling position. Even though his chunky thighs get in the way all the time, he is really trying every time he has tummy time. He can sit up basically unassisted now too! It really is amazing how quickly it all happens when you have a second baby. He is also babbling and talking like crazy! He is such a chatterbox and we love it! He will just play and talk to us or his toys.

I remember with Reagan, being our first, we were so anxious for her to hit every milestone right on time (or sooner!) but with Riley, we want him to go at his pace. He is doing perfectly well and such a healthy and happy baby, that we aren't rushing him. He will crawl when he crawls and we will enjoy these slower days while he isn't mobile.
I never want to forget any of this and these fun photos from our little shoot are just too much! His personality is shining through and I love how expressive and blissfully happy he is!

Riley, you are our sunshine baby and I wish you didn't have to grow up, but I can't wait to see who you become.
